4 Weeks, 3 Countries, 2 Amazing women
Updated: Apr 23
When it comes to travel for work, I am resistant to jump on board projects that will take me away from home for more than a few days. There is generally plenty of production happening in LA and SD and if I need to travel to location I can usually keep it pretty short. I have 4 kids (2 of which I homeschool) and I find that even though I am not really doing anything special and I have the most amazing childcare situation (thanks Tsara!) the kids and household seem to fall apart anyway if I am gone for more than 3 or 4 days, 5 is pushing it. So you can imagine what a stretch it was for me to join forces on a project that would take me around the world and away from my family for 4 weeks. But when the project came in, I found my self saying yes emphatically. Something was pulling me toward the experience that I couldn't explain. Somehow everyone in my family seemed to understand, even my twins, who are my youngest, were aprehensive and sad but simultaneously supportive.
The shoot brought its share of challenges which kept me on my toes, was wildely successful both logistacally and creatively, created some absolutely georgous photography that I am so proud to be a part of. But most importantly it brought me two people that I will forever be changed by. Two women who were so different from each other yet so equally extroidanary. Two women of unmatched integrity, intelligence, and creativity, I was honored to be a part of their team. We pulled off some incredible work, laughed like crazy, respected each other, and collaborated on all fronts. From LA to New Orleans, to London, to Budapest we supported each other. When I got home to my family I was renewed and refreshed and excited to re-immerse myself into my hectic life.
Thank you Lauren & Andrea. I will always be grateful to you ladies for reminding me that I exsist beyond those who rely on me. (And since Tokyo was cancelled and we had to race home to beat the coronavirus - the universe owes us at least one more trip!)
